Edwards’s buzzing throughout the Bills’ locker room ends with his own ears buzzing
Dick Jauron agrees that, “It's a good time to have a bye” as Trent Edwards is out with a concussion received from Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson’s dive-bombing blitz. To try and make light of the injury, (which may backfire), Edwards was having his 3rd best game as a quarterback this season before sustaining the injury.
The Bills head into the bye-week with a very respectable 4-1 record securing a very long tie for second in the AFC conference. They are ranked in the middle of the road concerning their offensive numbers and defensive numbers, so it can be safe to say that they do have a lot of work to do if they want the winning to continue. However, there is good news for the Bills. Though there will be after-effects of Edwards's concussion, a level 3 concussion is diagnosed by the injured person losing consciousness momentarily and results in heavy medical attention. Edwards should be ready to play against the San Diego Chargers because did not appear to lose consciousness after the hit. Even a level 2 concussion is believed to only require a week of rest.
The Chargers are basically the Bills with a poorer defense, but the Bills should still look out next week. The Chargers are better than the Bills in every offensive category, but their defense is numerically poorer than the Bills. Chargers gunslinger Philip Rivers is stronger than Edwards or Losman, and since the Chargers lean more towards the passing game, looks to the Chargers to dominate it. The Bills really need to tighten up the passing defense. The Chargers, on the other hand, are even more deplorable when it comes to guarding the pass. The Chargers are ranked in last-place in passing yards allowed, so Buffalo had better pass the ball constantly to capitalize. Both teams have almost the same rushing yards per game completed and allowed, so this game clearly will come down to the quarterbacks, the coverage, and the receivers. All said and done, the Bills have the ability to be 5-1 by week 7.
