Where to See Fireworks in Buffalo By Kim Sabshin |
| |
The Fourth of July is almost here, and warm weather is here along with everything else that it brings with it. Whether you enjoy barbecues, time spent with family and friends, or just relaxing after a long week at work, almost everyone can find common ground in one enduring tradition: fireworks. Here are some great places to see fireworks if you’ll be in the Buffalo area this Independence Day.
Cheektowaga Town Park: On Saturday, Cheektowaga Town Park is holding both a parade on noon and a fireworks display at dusk. Before the fireworks begin, there will be music by the Bedrock Boys and Boys of Summer. There will also be refreshments in the Pavilion while the events take place.
Clarence Day in the Park with Fireworks: Clarence Town Park is hosting a Fourth of July party on Saturday from 2-9pm, with a fireworks display at 9:45pm. All-ages events will take place throughout the day, and include everything from carriage rides to face painting to Guitar Hero. No matter how old you are or what your interests are, you’ll be sure to find something interesting to do here.
Erie Canal Harbor Fourth of July Celebration: If you want to stay near downtown Buffalo for the Fourth, check out the Central Wharf celebration on the Erie Canal Harbor. The events run on Saturday from 5pm until the fireworks display, and highlights include live music, activities for children, and food. You will not be able to bring cans, bottles, or food from outside the event, but you can bring folding chairs or blankets.
Friendship Festival: The Friendship Festival will have a
fireworks display at dusk on Friday in Riverside Park. The Festival
itself runs from July 1-5 with food, a midway, concerts, martial arts
demonstrations, concerts, and much more. Whether you want to visit Fort
Erie or stay in Buffalo, there will be plenty of activities to keep you
busy.
Lancaster Village Hall: The day's festivities on Saturday will include a baby contest, a 10K run for the Boys and Girls Club, a beer garden, the Lancaster Town Band, and Hit N Run on the mainstage. The fireworks are set to begin at 10pm.
Orchard Park Fourth of July Parade: Orchard Park High School
will host its annual family-friendly celebration on Saturday, with
fireworks at 9:45. The parade will assemble at the school parking lot
at 7pm and lead off at 8pm. After the parade, there will be an awards
presentation at the Pavilion behind Orchard Park Middle School.
University of Buffalo North Campus: The Town of Amherst is
sponsoring a fireworks display on Saturday on the shore of Lake LaSalle
near UB North Campus. The Billy McEwen band and the Erie County Wind
Ensemble will play at 7pm. The fireworks will start at 10pm.
