Creating Your Own Wedding Photo Book |
| |
Brides on a budget are searching for ways to have the wedding of their dreams at a price they can afford. There are many aspects of the wedding where costs can be cut and planning the wedding album is one of them.
Memories are priceless but preserving them comes at a cost. With the leaps and bounds in digital photography that has improved its quality and usability, costs have dropped dramatically and now you can have a professional-looking wedding album for less than $60 thanks to an abundance of online photo services that offer you the tools to create your own album.
There is one hitch to this good news: you need to have your wedding photographer’s permission and the digital pictures files in order to proceed. Ideally you’ll want to have this decided before you hire your photographer so it can be worked into the contract.
We’re going to look at one online photo service’s photo book design center. There are many similar services on the Internet but because of the vast number, reviewing one will give you an idea of the others just the same. Shutterfly is free to join and you can upload your photos to your account and easily manage them at no additional cost.
To get you started, Shutterfly offers its Wedding Photo Book gallery. The gallery describes the four album sizes you can choose from and you can review several demos that show the quality of their products and how to assemble a photo book.
Here are the steps you’ll take to create you wedding album.
Step 1: Set up an account. Create your account by filling out the registration form with your name, address and email. You shouldn’t fill out any credit card information until you buy something.
Step 2: Upload your wedding photos. Uploading your photos will take a while. Plan to give this some time and maybe complete some tasks away from your computer until the uploading is complete.
Shutterfly gives you the option of naming the folders where you store your pictures and organizing the pictures within the folders. You can add or remove photos at any time.
Step 3: Choose your album size and design style. Shutterfly’s album sizes each offer different features for their covers for you to choose from. Albums all start with 20 pages and the base price includes printing when the album is complete. Additional pages can be added to each album at an extra charge
Their design styles apply to all of the album sizes and range from traditional to contemporary. Other design features include selecting the type, size and color of your font, the number and arrangement of photos on a page, edgings around photos, etc.
To keep the work you put into your book simple, you can apply the design style to the entire book, but you can change each page if you don’t want what Shutterfly applies.
Step 4: Lay out your album. Shutterfly will save your album project so you don’t have to do it in one sitting. Take as much time as you need to complete it and when it’s done Shutterfly will print the album and ship it to you. as part of the final cost. Another positive with using Shutterfly, your photo book will be saved on your account so if you want to print a copy for someone, it will be there. If you choose the 12x12, you can print a smaller 8x8 copy as a gift to parents or grandparents.
There are many online photo services and you’ll want to peruse them if you find the album options and designs on Shutterfly don’t match your tastes. No matter what, you’ll have a priceless keepsake to remember your special day.
