Right on Politics
What is our key core value? One word to victory.

value As we approach the presidential election, both Democrats and Republicans are looking at their Party’s rank and file in effort to find those unifying values and objectives that will unify the parties for a strong showing in November.

Democrats have their universal hate for President Bush which serves them for obvious reasons, and they have the advantage of their unified objection to the War which is sure to override any dislike for Clinton or Obama that party members might be feeling.

But because the Republican Party has become such a big tent over the last ten years, we face the very unusual problem of not having a defining issue which will mobilize the base and make sure that there is a big turn out in November. When it comes to Iraq, Republicans are spilt over their support for the war, so on that we have no choice but to fall behind whatever McCain espouses.

And although the Abortion issue has unified the party in the past, it seems that this election cycle is going to require something very different than our common belief in the sanctity of human life. Simply because the political environment is so crowded that it’s unlikely that abortion will be an issue that even gets debated this time around.

So what is it that can bring us together? It’s actually a simple thing. Jobs.
It’s not just that Americans are struggling, it’s because of the perception that jobs are going to get fewer and lower paying that could swing the pendulum in our direction. What we need to do is put the need for good, high paying jobs for Americans first in the forefront and believe me, momentum will grow like a snowball rolling downhill.

Americans don’t want free money, they want money they have earned, and that they feel good about. We are a nation of workers, and watching our jobs disappear to low paid workers overseas is killing the physiological mindset that America will be a contender in the future, which is killing confidence which is eroding our Party and the country for that matter.

Oddly enough, McCain might be just the man to turn it around. There’s an old saying, “Only Nixon could go to China,” and I think we have a similar situation when it comes to good jobs for Americans. McCain might just be the only personality who could change the way we do business. Why, because McCain for all his faults is incorruptible. Basically Americans want jobs not hand out, if we can deliver, we’ve got our core issue which will bring home the presidency and recharge the party.

One word to victory: Jobs.
