Whitesnake's Coverdale Denying Zeppelin Tour Story
Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale is denying reports that claim his band is on track to be the opener for an upcoming Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The singer tells "Classic Rock" magazine that he has, quote, "no idea" how the story got started, and adds that there is absolutely no truth to the rumor. Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant is reportedly the one against such a tour, and Coverdale notes that in conversations they've had he's heard no indication that Plant has reconsidered. Coverdale also explains that his band wouldn't be available to join the classic rock giants even if they were planning a road trip. Whitesnake recently launched its own world tour, in support of the new album "Good To Be Bad." The band kicked off the South American leg of the trek earlier this month, and will be playing a two-night stand in Buenos Aires, Argentina tonight and tomorrow. Earlier this week, Britain's "Mirror" newspaper quoted Coverdale as saying a fall or winter Zeppelin tour is "very likely," and that he was expecting Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page to call him and invite Whitesnake to round out the bill.
