Madonna Kicks Off North American Leg Of Tour
Madonna brought the old classics, the new hits and a little bit of political controversy to her "Sticky & Sweet" tour that kicked off it's North American run Saturday night. "USA Today" reports the pop queen played her first U.S. concert since turning 50 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. After her 17-show run in Europe, Madonna rocked a 23-song set for the Garden State crowd. She played tunes from her new album "Hard Candy" and included old hits such as "Into The Groove" and "Open Your Heart." Not failing to bring some controversy to the show, Madonna shed some light on her feelings for Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She said, quote, "Sarah Palin can't come to this party. She is not in my show. She will never be in my show."
Madonna's European shows stirred up some controversy as well. In September, she dedicated her song "Like a Virgin" to the Pope while performing in Rome. Her August 23rd tour kickoff in the UK featured a video that included images of Adolf Hitler and destruction along with Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
