Panel: Neither Candidate's Health Policy Accomplishes Goals
(Nashville, TN) -- A panel of national health care policy experts agrees that neither Democrat Barack Obama nor Republican John McCain's health care proposals address the needs of uninsured Americans. American Federation of Hospitals President Chip Kahn says Obama's plan doesn't reach universality. He says it's a bunch of ideas that don't lead anywhere.
Meanwhile, Kahn says McCain's proposal plays with tax policy in a way that is very uncertain. He adds that neither candidate's proposals reach their stated goals. Former Clinton Advisor, and Integrated Medical Systems Consultant Dick Morris says Obama underestimates the effect of mandates as a political issue. He says if he wins and implements his plan, Democrats will face a sharp backlash in both 2010 and 2012. |
