Warning Given Against Giving Kids Some Cold Medications
(Washington, DC) -- An industry group is telling parents not to give some cough and cold medications to kids younger than four years old. The Consumer Healthcare Products Association cited rare complications as the reason behind the advice to parents. The group says it made the decision in consultation with the Food and Drug Administration. Some of the over-the-counter cough and cold medications involved are Wyeth's Dimetapp, Procter & Gamble's NyQuil, Novartis AG's Triaminic and Johnson & Johnson's Pediacare. The FDA held a public meeting last week on the use of such medications for young children. |
