New Gallbladder Surgery Performed At Wash U Is Less Invasive
(St. Louis, MO) -- Washington University surgeons are the first in St. Louis to perform a new surgical procedure on the gallbladder. The surgery involves removing the gallbladder using a single small incision in the bellybutton. Here's Washington University professor of surgery Dr. Michael Brunt.
More than 750-thousand patients undergo gallbladder removal surgery every year. Dr. Brunt predicts 70-to-80-percent of those patients could be candidates for this new procedure. |
