Med School Receives Methamphetamine Research Grant
(Nashville, TN) -- A Nashville medical school is on the receiving end of a sizeable federal grant for drug research. The 428-thousand-dollar grant is for Methamphetamine Research at Meharry Medical College. The five-year grant kicked in last month. Methamphetamine is a highly-addictive stimulant that is made from common household products like cold medicine, drain opener and other chemicals. Meth production in many states has dropped since the implementation of registries for products containing pseudoephedrine. However, authorities still see large quantities of the drug being smuggled in from Mexico. |
