Kellie Pickler Opens Up On Her Battle With Depression
Kellie Pickler isn't just sharing herself with fans through her music. The singer reveals that she's battled depression over the past year, due to hardships in her love and family life. According to People.com, Pickler endured an emotional breakup with her boyfriend, hockey player Jordin Tootoo. She also saw her father get released from prison only to return to jail, and had to deal with the sudden reemergence of her mother who abandoned her 20 years ago, when Pickler was just two. The one-time "American Idol" finalist admits to taking antidepressants, but notes the medication made her, quote, "crazy," so she stopped taking it. Pickler has since regained stability in her life, for which she credits friends Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift and her new boyfriend, songwriter Kyle Jacobs. Pickler's now promoting her self-titled second album, which hit stores last week. |
