Premature Ejaculation Could Be In Genes
[[ Note nature ]] (Undated) -- Men who suffer from premature ejaculation may have a new excuse. Researchers in the Netherlands found men who climax too soon during intercourse had a version of a gene which controls the hormone serotonin. The BBC reports men with the version of the gene ejaculated twice as quickly as other men in the study. The study consisted of 89 men who claim to have always suffered from the condition. Their female partners were asked to use a stopwatch each time they had sex. The results were compared with 92 men with no history of the condition. Serotonin appeared to be less active between the nerves in the section of the brain that controls ejaculation in men with the condition. Serotonin levels are what control the rapidity of ejaculation. The study contradicts the widely accepted belief that premature ejaculation is a psychological disorder and suggest the condition could be treated through gene therapy. Sexual psychotherapist Paula Hall said men with the condition tend to be fast reactors with quick reflexes. Hall said they may be excellent at playing tennis or videogames.
