Britney Spears Will Go To Trial
Britney Spears is still heading to trial in her misdemeanor driving-without-a-license case. "People" magazine reports the pop princess rejected a plea offer of a year's probation and a 150-dollar fine at a Los Angeles court hearing Wednesday. Spears' attorney J. Michael Flanagan has long maintained his client has been targeted because of her celebrity status, and says he will only consider a lesser infraction. The case stems from a 2007 fender-bender in Los Angeles. While Spears' hit-and-run charge was dismissed, she remained under the law's spotlight for driving with a Louisiana license rather than one from California. Spears' trial is set for October 15th in Van Nuys. Apparently unable to avoid vehicular hiccups, Spears was involved in yet another minor car accident on Wednesday. TMZ.com reports that Spears' driver backed into a paparazzi's car in West Hollywood. The singer reportedly sat in the back seat of her Cadillac Escalade when her driver hit the other vehicle. Her people have allegedly filed a police report surrounding the accident.
