Weiland Wonders About Label Status
Scott Weiland is puzzled about the suit filed against him and fellow Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz earlier this year. STP strapped on the instruments for a reunion tour, but talks of a new album were quickly squashed after Weiland and Kretz were sued by Atlantic Records, who claimed the pair was breaching a contract if they recorded for someone else. Weiland tells MTV.com, quote, "Originally I was told -- and I was told for years -- that we were free from Atlantic." He adds that he doesn't know how STP's Dean and Robert DeLeo are free from the contract while he and Eric aren't. Weiland says if the band were to make a record he would not want to do it with a major label, and would want to do so in a way that was in a much more original and creative fashion.
