New Biopic To Focus On The Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia
A Jerry Garcia biopic is in the works. "The Hollywood Reporter" says the still-untitled movie will focus primarily on the late rocker's pre-Grateful Dead days, including his time in the military, a pivotal car crash, and his entry into San Francisco's music scene. While several Grateful Dead documentaries have surfaced over the decades, this will be the first big screen biography focusing on the band's late frontman. Film producers Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa, and Eric Eisner are behind the project, and have secured the rights to Robert Greenfield's Garcia biography "Dark Star." Berger and Yerxa's credits include the hit indie films "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Election," while "Hamlet 2" was an Eisner-produced film. |
