Paula Abdul Releases Statement After Fan Is Found Dead Outside Her Home
"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul is speaking out on the news that a fan was found dead in a car outside her home Tuesday night. Abdul tells "Access Hollywood," quote, "I am deeply shocked and saddened about what transpired yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to her family." The victim, 30-year-old Paula Goodspeed, was a big fan of Abdul's and, according to her parents, had a, quote, "unnatural obsession with her." Police are calling Goodspeed an alleged stalker and believe she may committed suicide through a drug overdose. Goodspeed once auditioned for "American Idol's" Season 5. She told the judge panel during her audition that she's an artist who drew Abdul as her first ever portrait. One of Abdul's neighbors confirms seeing the victim's car near Abdul's home several times in the past few weeks. The car reportedly has a license plate that reads "ABL LV" and a picture of Abdul hanging from the rear-view mirror. Goodspeed's MySpace page also has a picture of Abdul licking her lips with a caption that reads, quote, "My secret crush."
