"Soul Train's" Don Cornelius Facing Multiple Charges
"Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius has been slapped with multiple charges in connection to a domestic dispute that resulted in his arrest last month. TMZ.com says the 72-year-old Cornelius was charged Friday with three counts of spousal battery, one count of dissuading a witness from making a police report, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Cornelius was taken into custody on October 17th after police were called to his Los Angeles-area home to respond to a "domestic dispute." Cornelius is married, but police refuse to say if the alleged victim is his wife. He could get up to five years in prison if convicted on all the charges.
Don Cornelius is best known as the creator and longtime host of the syndicated dance/music program "Soul Train." Launched in 1971, he served as the show's host and executive producer for more than 20 years. "Soul Train" remained in production after he stepped down, featuring various guest hosts. |
