Black Keys' Auerbach Goes Solo
Black Keys singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach will start off 2009 on his own. Billboard.com reports that the musician is working on a solo record and will play some tour dates during a break in the band's schedule. "Keep It Hid" is the name of his new disc, which arrives February 10th. The vocalist says of the music, quote, "It's all over the map. I write songs for Black Keys, so some of them sound like they could be Black Keys songs. But some songs are just acoustic guitar. There's some real dark tunes and some psychedelic rumbas." Dan is not completely alone on the disc as his father, Chuck, penned the track "Whispering Words" and his uncle, James Quine, sings and plays electric guitar on "Street Walkin'." Singer Jessica Lea Mayfield also turns up on a track called "When The Night Comes." As for his shows, Auerbach plans to differentiate his solo dates by staying away from Black Keys material. The tour begins February 28th in Washington, D.C.
