Woman Attributes Healing To Maryland Priest
(Annapolis, MD) -- A 71-year-old devout Catholic woman says prayer has rid her body of terminal cancer, and she's giving the credit to a 19th-century Maryland priest. Ellen Heibel, a parishioner at Saint Mary's Church in Annapolis, says she turned to Francis X. Seelos in prayer for help after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2003. She wears a locket bearing a tiny bone fragment from Seelos. Soon a committee appointed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore will begin to explore the possibility of a miracle, shipping its findings to Rome as part of an effort to have Seelos canonized as a saint. The German-born priest served parishes in Baltimore, Cumberland and Annapolis in the mid-1800s.< |
