Obama Warns About Doing Nothing On Healthcare Reform
(Annandale, VA) -- Hugging a cancer patient at a healthcare forum, President Obama warned about the cost of doing nothing on healthcare reform. At a town hall meeting in northern Virginia, a tearful woman named Debbie told the President about her kidney cancer and said she can't hold a job or secure health insurance.

Obama acknowledged that healthcare reform will be expensive, but said the cost of inaction will be much higher. He insisted that much of it can be paid for through "smarter spending." The President vowed to preserve what's best in the U.S. healthcare system and "fix what's broken." Obama added healthcare reform is a "moral imperative and an economic imperative." Republican critics have been increasingly vocal about a public option. Some have accused the President of aiming to nationalize health care. Obama said a public option will provide more competition and help keep private insurers honest. |
