Plaintiffs Sickened By Salmonella-Tainted Peanuts Getting Settlement
(Undated) -- The insurer for the Peanut Corporation of America will pay out roughly 12-million dollars to about 120 victims of last year's salmonella outbreak. The money comes from the insurance policy that Virginia-based Peanut Corporation had with the Hartford Insurance Company. The company's Blakely, Georgia plant, where the salmonella outbreak originated, was shut down and the company is now bankrupt. Nine people died and more than 700 were sickened from eating peanuts and peanut paste traced to the Peanut Corporation of America. |
