Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Others In Green Music Group
Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Sheryl Crow, Maroon 5, and other music heavy hitters are all part of a coalition to help the environment. Green gossip site Ecorazzi.com reports that the coalition, called the Green Music Group, describes itself as a large-scale, high-profile environmental group of musicians, industry leaders and music fans focused on its, quote "collective power to bring about widespread environmental change within the music industry and around the globe." The group strives to use grass roots efforts to promote practices -- specifically those employed by music industry professionals -- that sustain the environment.
Green Music Group founders Lauren Sullivan and Adam Gardner estimate that since 2004, they've prevented 67-thousand tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. Green Music Group has reportedly "greened up" 80 major music tours while allying itself with over 17-hundred environmental groups and pursuing educational outreach efforts. |
