Expert: 40-Percent Of Cancers Could Be Prevented
(London) -- Health experts already have the knowledge to prevent 40-percent of cancers worldwide but are not using it. That statement comes from Dr. David Hill, president of the International Union Against Cancer. He calls the current situation a "tragedy" and is urging healthcare policymakers to make better use of cancer-preventing vaccines. World Cancer Day is Thursday and the union will launch a cancer prevention campaign encouraging people everywhere to stop smoking, eat healthier food and get vaccinated against cancer-causing infections. By getting the needed vaccines and making lifestyle changes, Hill contends 40-percent of the world's 12-million new cancer cases each year could be averted.
