Month Focuses On Rising Tooth Decay In Youngsters
(Undated) -- More American children than ever are starting school with tooth decay because they've never had a dental check-up. That's why dentists like Dr. Lindsey Robinson are urging families to sign up their children for free dental care this Friday. The free services are being offered through the American Dental Association's Give Kids A Smile program. Friday's event is part of National Children's Dental Health Month. As a pediatric dentist in northern California, Dr. Robinson says he sees first-hand how pain from cavities can affect preschoolers and school-age kids. It's estimated dental problems cause five- to seven-year-olds to miss several million hours of school each year. Sign-up information for free Give Kids A Smile dental services is available online at givekidsasmile.ada.org or by calling your local dental society.
