Gene Test Could Pick Best Diet
(Washington, DC) -- Choosing the right diet might be all in the genes. A new test is designed to point the way to weight-loss regimens that are "appropriate" for genetic makeup. Interleukin Genetics says a study of about 140 overweight women showed those on genetically-appropriate diets lost more weight than women on other plans. The 149-dollar test identifies people who respond better to low-fat or low processed carbohydrate regimens, as well as those who have to keep an eye on both fat and carbs. Interleukin says its test identifies gene variations that affect metabolism and those that influence insulin response. |
