Boehner Says GOP Will Fight Healthcare Reform Legislation
(Washington, DC) -- House Minority Leader John Boehner says Republicans will mount a full court political press to hold off passage of healthcare reform legislation. The Ohio lawmaker said the GOP has launched "Code Red" to block the measure that includes phone calls and emails to members of Congress. Boehner says it is clear to him and other congressional GOP members that Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are going to "jam" the legislation through. However, Boehner said at this time he does not believe Pelosi has the 216 votes in the House needed to pass the bill. |
