Patients Sue Illinois STD Clinic For Leaking Information
(Elgin, IL) -- Several former patients are suing an STD clinic in Elgin, Illinois for allegedly leaking their health records. According to the lawsuit, five unnamed plaintiffs claim that the Open Door Clinic accidentally leaked a master list of 260 patients' names, along with their detailed medical and financial information. The Open Door Clinic provides counseling and treatment for those with HIV-AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Two of the alleged victims said thieves have already used the information to steal their identities in other states.
