Obama Heads To Missouri To Pitch Healthcare Reform
(Washington, DC) -- President Obama continues his campaign for healthcare reform during a trek to Missouri today. Obama is trying to push stalled healthcare reform legislation over the finish line. At a campaign-style rally in Pennsylvania Monday, Obama criticized health insurance companies for soaring premiums and for denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. He also accused insurers of putting profits before patients. Obama asked, "How much higher do premiums have to rise before we do something about it?" He said insurance companies will continue current practices "for as long as they can get away with it." Obama argued the status quo is unacceptable and unsustainable. Republicans continue to urge Democrats to scrap the healthcare bills and start over, calling the legislation too complex and too costly. |
