East Coast Drug Heist Nets Millions In Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals
(Enfield, CT) -- Burglars pulled off a major drug heist on the East Coast during the violent storm over the weekend. An Eli Lilly and Company spokesman said the thieves broke into a distribution center in Enfield, Connecticut sometime overnight Saturday or early Sunday. They stole several dozen pallets of drugs worth about 75-million dollars. Most were antidepressents such as Prozac and Cymbalta, and the anti-psychotic Zyprexa. Thieves apparently disabled the burglar alarm, ripped a hole in the roof and loaded the drugs into a waiting vehicle. The company says no controlled substances or narcotics were stolen. Lilly's own security team is working with the FBI and Connecticut state police to investigate the incident.
