Patrick Stump Goes It Alone At SXSW
Former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has made his official solo debut. MTV.com reports that the self-proclaimed one-man-band played Austin's South By Southwest Festival Friday at the Dirty Dog Bar. Stump played new material like the song, "As Long As I Know I'm Getting Paid," as well as a cover of Bobby Womack's "If You Think You're Lonely Now." Fall Out Boy announced it was on a "hiatus" back in November. "Spin" magazine says Stump's 20-minute solo debut at SXSW showed that, quote, "his new material isn't yet ready for mass consumption." At one point in his set, the multi-instrumentalist said, quote, "I'm karaoke-ing songs that haven't been recorded yet." Stump played on stage while backed up by pre-recorded tracks and loops. He posted a video of his new musical style recently at PatrickStump.com. |
