Obama Cheers House Passage Of Healthcare Bill
(Washington, DC) -- President Obama applauded House passage of an historic, sweeping healthcare reform bill. In a late night speech at the White House, the President called it a "victory for the American people." It's also a major victory for the Obama White House. The President insisted that it's "not radical reform, but it is major reform." He said the voices of average Americans have been heard. Obama noted that the national debate over healthcare reform has been going on for more than 100 years. He said Congress has risen above politics and has pushed back against powerful special interests. The President added the U.S. healthcare system works better for health insurance companies than it does for everyday people. |
