M.I.A. Accuses Oprah Of Giving Her "Cold Shoulder"
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey didn't exactly win over Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. at the recent Metropolitan Ball in New York City. NME.com reports the musician didn't like how the veteran talk show host praised singer Lady Gaga. M.I.A. says, quote, "[Winfrey] made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga about how she is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There's millions of other Americans who represent that for me." The musician also wonders if Winfrey's approval of Lady Gaga is about a, quote, "journey." M.I.A. criticizes Gaga saying her journey was only about "four miles" between her Upper East Side upbringing, her teenage years of singing at a performing arts school, and her recent New York concerts.
M.I.A. also said Winfrey was unfriendly towards her. She says, quote, "Oprah seemed like she was giving me the cold shoulder. She was with [David Bowie's wife] Iman. Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me." But Oprah was a different story. M.I.A. says the TV personality seemed to be angry with her. |
