Eddie Vedder's Ukulele Adds 17-Thousand To Rail Trail Project
One of Eddie Vedder's ukuleles has a new home. The Pearl Jam frontman put the instrument up for auction earlier this month as a fundraiser for a Washington state trail project. Bidding on the autographed, four-string Kamaka ukulele closed on Sunday, with a sale price of 17-thousand-dollars. Vedder is including a note with the ukulele, explaining that he used it on his latest CD, "Ukulele Songs." He says he hopes the instrument "finds a good home and is able to keep the country country." The money is going to the Ferry County Rail Trail Partners, which is converting the area's former railroad corridor into a trail for hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and other non-motorized uses. In addition to supporting the rail trail project, Vedder is also supporting "Ukulele Songs." He's launching a solo tour behind the album with a show in Providence, Rhode Island Wednesday night.
